The fifth annual Cotton Ketchie Arts Festival is August 22-23, 2008 at the Charles Mack Citizens Center in downtown Mooresville. There will be 40 artisans from across North Carolina displaying their works in pottery, jewelry making, stained glass, metal sculpture, watercolor, acryllic, pastel, oil, and much more. All the proceeds from the weekend event benefit child abuse prevention.

On Friday evening, August 22, the Cotton Ketchie Arts Festival begins with the Gala. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. for ticket holders to "meet the artists". During the evening, heavy hors d'oeuvres will be served by Nancy Brody of Catered Occasions as guests enjoy the smooth jazz arrangements of Night Shift and the renowned wines of Shelton Vineyards. A live and silent auction will highlight the evening featuring works donated by the visitng artisans. On Saturday, August 23, the festival is open to the public from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission is free, but cash donations will be accepted at the door. Browse the aisles in air-conditioned comfort in the middle of August as you enjoy the works of forty celebrated North Carolina artists. $5 raffle tickets will be available for "Cotton" Ketchie's newest giclee release titled, "Vintage Mooresville". Drawing for the framed print valued at $750 will be at 4:30 that afteroon, just before the conclusion of the day's events. more »

In 2006, 34 children in NC died at the hands of their parents or caregivers...76% of those children were under the age of five. The Arts Festival is an annual event sponsored by the Mooresville/Lake Norman Exhange Club...all proceeds benefit child abuse prevention in Iredell County and across North Carolina. In the picture at the right, "Cotton" Ketchie is presenting Amy Eisele, Executive Director of the Exchange/SCAN Child and Parenting Center of Iredell County with a check for $20,000 from the 2007 Cotton Ketchie Arts Festival.
